Arabica coffee, scientifically known as Coffea Arabica, originates from the highlands of Ethiopia. Our Arabica beans are sourced from premium coffee-growing regions known for their rich, fertile soils and ideal climatic conditions. These beans are cultivated at high altitudes, typically between 2,000 to 6,000 feet above sea level, where cooler temperatures slow the growth process, allowing the beans to develop a complex flavor profile. Coffea Canephora, commonly referred to as Robusta, thrives in lower altitude regions with warmer climates, primarily in Africa and Southeast Asia. Our Robusta beans are handpicked from selective farms where they benefit from these conditions, producing beans that are high in caffeine and have a strong, bold flavor. Robusta beans are known for their earthy, nutty notes and a more pronounced bitterness, making them an excellent complement to the more delicate Arabica beans. Their higher caffeine content also contributes to a richer crema in espresso preparations.
Selective Harvesting: Both Arabica and Robusta beans undergo selective harvesting, ensuring only the ripest cherries are picked. This method guarantees the highest quality beans and maintains consistency in flavor.
Processing Methods: The cherries are processed using two primary methods: washed (wet) processing and natural (dry) processing. Washed processing is typically used for Arabica beans to preserve their nuanced flavors, while natural processing is often reserved for Robusta beans to enhance their robust characteristics. In washed processing, the fruit covering the beans is removed before they are dried, leading to a cleaner taste. Natural processing allows the cherries to dry with the fruit intact, imparting a deeper, more complex flavor to the beans.
