Coco peat, also known as coir pith or coir fiber pith, is a natural, eco-friendly growing medium derived from the husks of coconuts. It’s a byproduct of the coconut industry and is processed into a spongy, fibrous material.
Coco peat has a light, airy texture and is usually brownish in color. It resembles fine, compressed fibers or chunks that expand when moistened.
It consists of the fibrous material left over after extracting coconut fibers. This material is rich in lignin and cellulose, making it a durable and resilient substrate.
