Guava (Psidium guajava) is a tropical fruit tree in the myrtle family, native to Mexico, Central America, and northern South America. It has been introduced and is now widely cultivated in many tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The guava tree is a small evergreen tree, typically growing to a height of 3–10 m (10–33 ft). The leaves are opposite, ovate-elliptic, 5–15 cm (2–6 in) long and 3–8 cm (1–3 in) wide, with an acute apex and a rounded or slightly cordate base The skin is thin and smooth, and the flesh is white, pink, or yellow, with a sweet, tart, and aromatic flavor. Guavas are a good source of vitamins A and C, as well as dietary fiber. They can be eaten fresh, used in salads, desserts, and preserves, or juiced.
