Longpi pottery, also known as stone pottery is a traditional craft from Longpi village in Manipur, India. The pottery is hand made where the potters wheel is also not used.
BRIEF PROCESS
� Preparation of clay - mixing of serpentinite stone with weathered rock and water to make clay. (The strength is provided by Serpentinite rock and weathered rock acts as a binding agent.)
� The clay is given desired shape with hand moulding.
� The moulded products are let to dry for 4-5 days.
� After the products are dried, they are kept on fire for 5-6 hours.
� The product is then rubbed with Chiron leaves for finishing.
� As detailing, cane is used to decorate the product wherever needed.

Post-firing, the bowls are rubbed with Chiron leaves, giving them a smooth finish and natural shine.
