Honey bees collect nectar from flowering plants using their long, tube-like tongues. They store the collected nectar in their honey stomachs and transport it to the hive. In the hive, bees process the nectar by repeatedly regurgitating and digesting it. Enzymes in their saliva break down the complex sugars in the nectar into simpler sugars, and water evaporates from the mixture, resulting in honey.
Storage: Honey should be stored in a tightly sealed container at room temperature. It does not spoil due to its low water content and natural acidity. Over time, honey may crystallize, which can be reversed by gently warming the container in warm water.
