Sesame seeds are formed in capsules of sesame plants which are harvested using drying and threshing techniques. They are available in three different colours in India .
They are Natural white although some dark seeds are present, black seeds and brown seeds. Another variety called hulled sesame seeds is formed after the removal of outer seed coat.
Again based on the cleaning process three different qualities are available
Raw sesame seeds from fields : leaf dust, soil dust and black seeds are present, They need to be cleaned to use as food
Cleaned sesame seed : free from leaf and soil dust, blackseeds are present. They are edible grade
Sortex quality sesame seed : Free from dust and black seeds (Min 99.5%) pure , they are ready to eat and used for seasoning
