Importance of Idol worship: Idols are not the idle fancies of sculptors, but shining channels through which the heart of the devotee is attracted to and flows towards God. Though the image is worshipped, the devotee feels the presence of the Lord in it and pours out his devotion unto it. Regular worship, Puja and other modes of demonstrating our inner feeling of recognition of Divinity in the idol unveils the Divinity latent in it. This is truly a wonder and a miracle. The picture comes to life. The idol speaks. It will answer your questions and solve your problems. The God in you has the power to awaken the latent Divinity in the idol. The lives of Mirabai, Sant Tukaram, Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Shri Yogananda are a few instances to prove the point. They proved beyond doubt that idol worship has its own brighter side and through simple faith and intense devotion one can realize God through it.
Idols are the "finite representation of the Infinite". As per Vishnu Samhita (ch 29, v 55-7), persuasively endorses the use of imagery (idols) and puts it: "Without a form how can God be mediated upon? If (He is) without any form, where will the mind fix itself? When there is nothing for the mind to attach itself to, it will slip away from meditation or will glide into a state of slumber. Therefore the wise will meditate on some form, remembering, however, that the form is a superimposition and not a reality.
The Treasures Lord Kubera with Goddess Lakshmi and Ridhhi Idol is an exalted creation embodying the divine figures of Lord Kubera, the God of Wealth, along with Goddess Lakshmi and Ridhhi. This magnificent idol encapsulates the virtues of prosperity, wealth, and divine grace, making it an essential spiritual artifact for devotees and collectors alike.
This exquisite brass idol brings together three powerful deities from Hindu mythology: 1. Lord Kubera: Revered as the God of Wealth and the guardian of the North, Kubera is the custodian of earthly treasures. Depicted with a robust, prosperous appearance, he is adorned with jewels and ornaments and is characteristically portrayed holding a money-pot or money-bag and a club. Kubera is a symbol of affluence, prosperity, and the guardian of precious materials like gold, silver, pearls, and the nine nidhis, which are special treasures.
Goddess Lakshmi: The consort of Vishnu, Lakshmi embodies wealth, fortune, love, beauty, joy, and prosperity. She is the divine provider of both material and spiritual wealth. Typically, she is depicted seated on a lotus, with coins flowing from her hands, symbolizing the flow of prosperity.
Ridhhi: Often associated with wisdom and prosperity, Ridhhi is considered a form of Goddess Saraswati or a consort of Lord Ganesha. Her presence completes the triad, adding a layer of intellectual and spiritual wealth to the idol's significance.
These dimensions and weight reflect a substantial yet manageable size, making the idol an ideal fit for altars, spiritual corners, or decorative showcases in your home or office.
The idol is meticulously crafted from heavy, shining brass, known for its durability and divine resonance. Brass is esteemed in spiritual contexts due to its superior capacity to grasp and retain divine spirit and spiritual vibrations, which can reach up to 30% more efficiently compared to other metals. The polished, lustrous finish further enhances its visual appeal and spiritual significance.
Idol worship holds a profound place in Hinduism and other spiritual paths. It serves as a tangible representation of the Infinite, allowing devotees to direct their minds and hearts towards the divine. Here are some key aspects of this spiritual practice:
Focus and Meditation: Idols act as focal points during meditation and prayer, helping devotees center their thoughts and feelings on the divine. As the Vishnu Samhita (ch 29, v 55-7) suggests, without a form to focus on, it can be difficult for the mind to remain fixed in meditation, often leading to distractions or slumber.
Channel for Devotion: Idols serve as conduits through which devotees can pour out their devotion, emotions, and prayers. The physical manifestation of the divine in an idol makes it easier for worshippers to connect on an emotional and spiritual level.
Spiritual Resonance: Regular worship, Puja, and other rituals performed with the idol can awaken the latent divinity within, making the idol a living, resonating presence of the gods. Historical and religious figures like Mirabai, Sant Tukaram, Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, and Shri Yogananda have demonstrated that through intense devotion and faith, one can perceive divine presence in idols.
Infinite Representation: Idols are not merely artistic sculptures but are considered finite representations of the Infinite. They embody the divine attributes and essences of the deities they represent, thus holding immense spiritual value.
The practice of idol worship and the creation of such intricate idols have deep-rooted cultural and historical significance. The rich tradition of idol-making and worship has been preserved over millennia, influencing art, culture, and spirituality in profound ways.
