Here's the detailed preparation for Prakriti Spice World's Instant Millets Kichadi using the 1:5 water ratio and pressure-cooking method:
Ingredients:
1 cup Instant Millets Kichadi mix
5 cups water
Preparation Steps:
1. Measure Ingredients:
Measure 1 cup of the Instant Millets Kichadi mix.
For each cup of kichadi mix, you will need 5 cups of water.
2. Prepare the Pressure Cooker:
Place the pressure cooker on medium heat.
Add 5 cups of water into the cooker.
3. Add the Kichadi Mix:
Once the water begins to warm up slightly (it doesn't need to boil), add the measured Instant Millets Kichadi mix to the water.
Stir well to ensure the mix blends smoothly with the water.
4. Close the Pressure Cooker:
After mixing, close the pressure cooker lid properly and make sure the vent weight (whistle) is in place.
5. Cooking:
Turn the heat to medium-high.
Allow the cooker to come to pressure. Once the pressure builds up, you will hear the first whistle.
6. Cook for 5 Whistles:
Let the pressure cooker whistle 5 times. This usually takes about 10-12 minutes, depending on your stove's heat setting.
After 5 whistles, turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally.
7. Open the Cooker:
Once the pressure has fully released (the cooker’s safety valve will drop), carefully open the lid.
Stir the kichadi gently to ensure the consistency is uniform and the ingredients are well mixed.
8. Check Consistency:
If you prefer your kichadi slightly more liquidy, you can add a small amount of hot water and mix.
If it's too liquidy for your taste, you can simmer it on low heat for a couple of minutes without the lid to thicken it.
9. Serve:
Your Instant Millets Kichadi is now ready to serve. Optionally, you can garnish it with fresh coriander leaves, a dollop of ghee, or a squeeze of lemon for added flavor.
Enjoy your healthy and nutritious millet kichadi!
